On Wednesday, our last Quarterly Skills Share session of 2025 will bring together participants in our Community Manager Certification Program for three lightning talks and a celebration of our recent grads (www.cscce.org/2025/11/24/s... )

Now in the second half of the program they are turning their attention to their projects' documentation, consolidating, creating, and developing a plan for updating and maintaining documentation over time.

The first half of the program focused on governance, with a series of Mini-workshops and lightning talk sessions creating opportunities for open-source leaders to learn new frameworks and tactics and share their own expertise.

The pilot cohort of Birdaro Training Program has been underway since the end of September, and with just three weeks left our participants are halfway through creating a playbook or contributor guide.

This week, our cohort of 30 learners will be considering the People domain of the Project Canvas – who is accountable, who on the team has the necessary skills to carry out the work, and who are the stakeholders benefiting from the project’s outcome.

Our bootcamp, which uses HBR’s Project Management Canvas as a coordinating framework, puts project management best practices into the context of STEM settings, making it highly practical and accessible.

Project Management is an essential skill for many STEM professionals, but it’s rarely their entire job, nor is it something they generally receive training in as their careers progress and they find themselves managing lab groups or collaborative projects.

This week at CSCCE, it’s week 2 of our Project Management for Scientists Bootcamp (PMB), our Birdaro participants enter their fourth week of creating a team playbook or contributor guide, and we’re hosting our last Quarterly Skills Share session of the year!

Johanssen Obanda, Community Manager for Crossref’s ambassador program, manages a global community, and through his time in the program he’s focused on understanding how he can better support distributed volunteers.
