15.10.2025 17:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks Barry. Glad others have now seen it as well. Castell Ddu is a good birding locality.
25.09.2025 19:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks Adam. Just been down there again this morning. The light was perfect. Certainly best in the morning.
25.09.2025 09:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Approach slowly, at high water the birds are very close, just the other side of the trees.
24.09.2025 17:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks Mike. Access is easy, just head down Castell Ddu Road and when you get to the bridge, just park on the left by the gate, hop over the style and walk up toward the river - public footpath.

Lesser Yellowlegs
Spotted Redshank
The Peregrine that frightened everybody away.
A very good morning's birding at Castell Ddu, below the M4 bridge at Pontardulais, just after high tide. Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted Redshank, Ruff and a juvenile Peregrine that came along and spoilt the party.

23.09.2025 20:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Managed to get in on the action at Aberavon this afternoon, 6 Sabine's Gull and 3 Grey Phalarope. Wonderful views.
19.09.2025 20:21 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unfortunately, I don't. I've seen them often at Kenfig and Pembrey, but a car would be needed for these I guess.
18.09.2025 19:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No Dark Greens?
18.09.2025 17:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I thought it was spume not sputum, but I guess they look somewhat similar π€£

12.07.2025 14:15 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Absolutely, butterfly numbers in South Wales seem to be exceptionally low these days, in fact insects in general. Very sad.
