Natives in Hollywood would not be where they are today without this man. *I* would not be where I am today. He made the Sundance Film Festival & Sundance Native Lab I was in.

So much more than an advocate, he created space. He was one of the few who invested in our future.

To Robert Redford 🕊️ RIP

Spike Lee, Adam McKay and over 2,000 writers decry Trump’s ‘un-American’ actions in open letter Screenwriters from Writers Guild of America, also including David Simon and Celine Song, call out president’s ‘authoritarian assault’ on free speech More than 2,300 members of the Writers Guild of America, including Spike Lee and Adam McKay, have signed an open letter decrying the actions of Donald Trump’s administration that represent “an unprecedented, authoritarian assault” on free speech. The letter, a combined effort from the WGA East and West branches, cites the US president’s “baseless lawsuits” against news organizations that have “published stories he does not like and leveraged them into payoffs”. It specifically references Paramount’s decision to pay Trump $16m to settle a “meritless lawsuit” about a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. The letter notes that Trump “retaliated against publications reporting factually on the White House and threatened broadcasters’ licenses”, and has repeatedly called for the cancellation of programs that criticize him. "The Order" on Hulu is based on real life, the 1980s neo-Nazi cell led by Aryan Nation dropout Bob Matthew's, and features The Turner Diaries, a novelized map for neo-Nazi revolt that Timothy McVeigh kept under his pillow, and apparently influenced Jan 6 participants.

Well done, worth a watch.

'The Studio' Is a Hilarious Love-Hate Letter to Hollywood 'The Studio,' Seth Rogen's AppleTV+ series, hilariously skewers the movie business with cameos from Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Zoe Kravitz and more.

I laughed a lot at Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's new Apple series The Studio, an equal parts bitter and affectionate Hollywood satire — that's also a stealth sequel to The Player?!?!

In Praise of California It has its flaws — what place doesn’t? — but it plays a big role in America’s greatness

"California paid in a lot more [to the federal government] than it got back — $83 billion in total. So did Washington state and much of the Northeast. Most red states were in the reverse position, getting much more from DC than they paid in return."
