I’d suggest one of the issues here is that AI implementation has not been an organic, bottom-up process. Since 2022, its boosters have been tech titans and media folks who got waaaaay ahead of the demand for this technology and began imposing the features and infrastructure on an unconvinced public.

What I hear any time I get a fundraising card from my graduate institution:

At least corporations will be able to get the money back from the government. Normal Americans won’t see jack squat. Maybe if you ordered something and got charged the tariff directly and have the patience to fill out the paperwork you might get something.

It absolutely is not conclusive that corporations mostly ate them rather than passing them on (and i've seen some evidence the other way)
