Absolum is an OK roguelike, but a fantastic beat-'em-up Dotemu's latest is an inventive genre fusion, even if its retro side is stronger than its modern half

I enjoyed this review of Absolum! It asks

A) What does the death in a beatem up mean ?
B) Does using a genre that creates incentive for modern players to do multiple runs work better than the vintage design conventions?

For sure! I am glad the hard ones exist! Some I love ( Wild Guns). I think that often when I am asking about difficulty or read about it, that phrase gets used a lot.
