A cartoonist's review of AI art - The Oatmeal
This is a comic about AI art.
The Oatmeal is spot on.
We got some training at work on how to write prompts for AI tools. It has some use - mainly because of the enshitification of other digital tools - but I was struck by how it is a shortcut for actually learning a skill.

So the shooter appears to have been a RWer who didn't like what Kirk was doing to the country. He literally inscribed one of the bullets with " βHey, fascist! Catch!β with an up arrow symbol, right arrow symbol, and three down arrow symbols."
That's baller.

Really not sure whatβs changed. Were people unaware of the lists these people had before? What about the lists Kirkβs organisation had that targeted people?

We keep normalising RWNJ like Kirk and nazis. The think pieces and obits this week are a fucking disgrace, all shaking their head while justifying and amplifying. Donβt be part of the problem. Reject this BS.

Gas leak cover-up shows Australian governments are captured by the gas industry
It's been revealedΒ that Santosβ Darwin LNG gas export terminal has been leaking large amounts of climate-destroying methane gas for 20 years - and gas
βThis cover-up is a national scandal. It confirms that Australiaβs key regulators are either incompetent or captured by the gas industry, or both,β said @markogge.bsky.social.
βThat there are no consequences for gas companies failing to act on a major leak of methane for 20 years is a disgrace."

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says β Streetsblog USA
Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikesΒ and people in cars and on foot, a new studyΒ of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.
ALL ROAD USERS.
And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.
For sharrows, itβs actually safer to NOT have them.

How does the civilian casualty rate in Gaza compare to WWII? Itβs so much worse.
Civilian casualty rate is ridiculous. Remembering that killing civilians is a war crime.

Because a lot of commercial solar projects are on land not roofs. TBH, the main issue with the commercial ones is exactly the problem with every other big business looking to make a buck.

I prefer the idea of making it like mini-golf with massive wind turbines you have to avoid hitting the blades of, or a series of solar panels you have to bounce between.
And as golfers like to promote, the non-fairway area tends to be trees that are "urban biodiversity refuges"... kinda.

So? Well, obviously the majors are not receiving support, nor even tacit support, just βleast worstβ support.
That should have ramifications for policy and governance.

Primary votes have influence and signal directions for policy.
Notice how majors want to talk about mandates? Thatβs because people arenβt giving them mandates and they are trying to get ahead of the issues they will be pushed on.
