Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me? Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

Promoting Our Projects, Events, and Values BEYOND Social Media A guiding question for artists, activists, and community-builders: If social media did not exist, how would you share your art, promote your work, and/or communicate your values?

How might we promote our projects, events, campaigns, art, values, etc *beyond* social media?

There's no one magic key, but some friends and I did some brainstorming and skill-sharing. Hope it can useful to artists, musicians, organizers, small business owners, and beyond:

I think performance side might be ok but I would feel I was doing my students a disservice by not being informed and engaged - it just feels essential

Are there any working musicians out there without either instagram (or facebook)? Is it possible whilst still in relatively early stages of a career? I use it mostly to follow other harpists and musicians and it’s the best way to find out what’s happening specifically and generally.

The final Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. The entire page is mostly white as they're in the winter snow. The pair is walking with a sledge, nicely duffled in in scarves, hats, gloves. Calvin delightedly exclaims 'wow, it really snowed las night! Isn't it wonderful?'. Hobbes follows up with 'Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!' -- A new year... a fresh, clean start!' adds Calvin. As they look over the landscape, Hobbes observes 'it's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!' -- 'A day full of possibilities!' Calvin affirms. They get ready on their sledge and Calvin tells his friend 'it's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... let's go exploring!', and the pair sledges off into the wintery landscape.

Last night we watched a 90s Christmas film where Dolly plays an angel & a sexy songstress rolled into one. Dolly seems to pick her parts like my 5yr old niece does and I love that for her

I sometimes try and use Dido’s refrain in Stan (🥰) vs. Dido’s full song Thank You (🤢) to make a point about contrast & being sparing with the pretty bits so we appreciate them more. I’ve not had someone understand what I’m yapping about yet - but I persist

All I know is Eminem’s mum made the ‘mom’s spaghetti’ which I will sometimes speak of to communicate feeling nervous before a performance (I get sweaty palms)
