Really opened my eyes to how justice-seeking will cling to something that feels ultimately protective. and for a lot of men that is the status quo. it feels righteous to preserve.
the difference between me and that dude is that I doubt he will do any introspection & empathy like I just did for him
Back in 2020 I was fervently checking news at work and announcing important updates to people who ended up not really caring at all, and then a few years later I met someone who did the same thing - listening to political podcasts, announcing news - but for the opposite views. It deflated me

05.11.2025 01:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So it makes sense that everything about the original was discarded because it was anti-them. It was a mirror towards their arrogance and the original writers/devs/Hardsuit Labs likely fought for that ... so they were removed. Pure speculation, but you try coming up with a better reason
05.11.2025 00:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The stubborn decision to keep it named Bloodlines 2 despite it being nothing alike is an out of touch executive's selfish decision to feast off of the name like an honest to god vampire and a wannabe auteur's selfish hunger for some spotlight. They never cared about the source material

This is such a fucking departure from the heart of Bloodlines 1
something I think people don't realise about autism is how totalising the loneliness can be. It's not just a feeling, it's so much more difficult to form deep connections, to know what to say or to do or to think. Sometimes it feels better, sometimes worse, but it never really goes away.

So audiences see things simply and don't see his actions as a complex sacrifice. People embraced death that day, and he was no exception. We can't say if he would have lived without meeting Rose. He would have been with his friends and he might have done the same for them. That's his character.
30.10.2025 21:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think what the movie fails at is showing us why Jack sees her suffering and why it resonates with him. Is he really just a caricature of a plucky street urchin who's just a leaf on the wind? No one fleshes him out like people do for Rose, as if we only see him through her eyes. Which makes sense
30.10.2025 21:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Jack clocked her suffering immediately and is perhaps the only person who took it seriously, because even the audience watching the movie still considers her a pampered rich girl *because she doesn't act like a victim* and that pisses off a misogynistic society
30.10.2025 21:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Rose's arc is that she grows to be more than a kept woman, learns who she is and what she likes.
I think it's swept under the rug that Rose was suicidal. Another sexist take of her just being hysterical or dramatic, and not that her life was actually that miserable (abusive fiances are common!)
A ton of men jack off the to idea of sacrificing themselves for their women, and demand respect for a fictional setting that will never happen, because they are told to pride themselves as protectors.
So a man does just that and as a society we blame the woman he protected.
Which leads me to how the beating of the drum on Jack and The Door often leads to phrases like "Rose is selfish" as things quickly turn misogynistic, as if it wasn't 100% a choice Jack made. Maybe he should have just choked her out back on the ship, if he considered her a liability? Oh what?
Love?
Maybe, uh, all the other things that led to the ship sinking should have also not happened? Jack would live then, too.
But we don't want that. We want the story. Yet we argue with it because that is how we handle grief. It *must* be someone's fault.
The whole movie is a criticism of classism and how the poor are often the best of us, yet too often lost. The world's largest unsinkable ship is sinking and most of the people on the ship are g o i n g t o d i e
But we get hyperfocused on the real estate of a scrap of door
Jack is arrested as the ship sinks, preventing him from seeking a vest. Not only that, he knew he was going to die as he was not only a man, but lower-class. Most of the ship accepted their fates.
You know who should have died? The rich. But they don't. That's the story. It's not fair.
