Volume 1 is a super fun read that really plays into the strengths of world-building and character harnessing through shortly-told comics. Hits all the right notes of darkly comic space action with some real emotional tugs. Looking forward to V2!

Thunderbirds invented Ultraman just as Captain Scarlet invented Kamen Rider/Super Sentai.

Three of the four big Holmes novels in, and I'm thinking I still vastly prefer my Holmes in the short story format. I rather feel ACD is given to rambling threads in these larger-scaled adventures which, while enjoyable, lack the tightly-wound durability of the short stories.

I figured I knew the endgame, having seen the Hammer version with Cushing/Lee. Never realised till now how the Hammer version twists the original story!

Continuing my Sherlock Holmes adventures with reading The Hound of the Baskervilles, recently. A delectably spooky read that undeniably reads like a rough ride with the absence of Holmes for a good chunk of the story and the multiple red herring plots stitched together with some conviction.

I don't have an abundance of fondness for these comics, but they were evidently vital in keeping the industry afloat throughout the 50s-70s. Kind of a shame to see so many castaways floating around!

I'm always spotting Commandos and Battle Picture Libraries, but never the spacey ones, save for that one time I nabbed a few Starblazers. Dang.

Do we need to start a retirement home for people's thrown-out copies of all the old war-themed picture library titles? Commando, Battle, Air Ace, War, Combat - entire ecosystems of antiques centres are propped up by people's donations of these titles, it seems.

Nexus Prime is almost certainly intended as a torso for some combiner frame, but that doesn't change the fact that they look just so shi-i-i-t.
