Great piece here (and why AI regulation is one of my top three priorities). No surprise that Newsom caved to money, it’s why he should never be president.

The correct and appropriate number of robotaxis in the public right-of-way is zero. I am not OK sharing a street with a robot that could kill me.

And an overriding argument for "net societal benefit" doesn't exist here. VMT going up is objectively bad regardless of who is or isn't behind the wheel.

Dislike driving and avoid it as much as possible. Have not ridden a robotaxi & never will if I can help it.

Strongly opposed for a wide array of reasons, but the biggest are:
- It's not OK to put peoples' lives in the hands of a robot w/o their consent
- Studies show robotaxis sharply increase VMT

+1 to white beans in soup. You can kind of kitchen sink various veggies and garlic and end up with something good.

Chia seeds are a great option as well. If you remember to hydrate them a bit beforehand you can easily throw them into cold drinks and imo they add nice texture.
