It's the second-brightest star in the constellation Orion. Rigel is the brightest but you can distinguish them by their color (Rigel is blue, Betelgeuse is orange).

Yeah, my hands might've been a lil' shaky.

I tried to shoot the Pleiades (M45) at a Bortle 7 site... Yeah, no... At least there's a bit of dust visible, but the image really doesn't work with colors, hence B&W.

Sirius wasn't visible so I shot Betelgeuse instead. It's a red supergiant so the color variation is quite subtle.

It's a possibility. It's not every day (or night) you see a dude dressed in all black hustling around with a 5-foot spyglass.

Ah, the lovely sodium orangeness... 🤮 Fortunately its wavelength is so narrow it can be filtered out, if you're into astrophotography. Totally disrupts eye viewing though.

A few misses but overall in my top 10.

Just after I moved to this rural Bortle 3 area, the town decided to install 24/7 streetlights next to my backyard due to some elderly people complaining about "suspicious activity". I had just bought a 10" Newtonian. 🥺
