In our branch, we consulted extensively with members and the main reason we were given for low turnout was feeling they'd been shafted by the UCU national leadership over MAB and didn't want to risk putting themselves in the front line again.

Wanting to get rid of them strikes me as both politically inept and logistically insane.

I don't know which 'all' Paolo Sandro has in mind, but in my experience the Trots (of which I am not one) are the workhorses in our union, doing the routine thankless tasks year in and year out, as well as being great at identifying the details needed for effectively mobilising action when required.

UCU members have a right to a free + fair election, and a working union. Under Grady, members have seen:
📉over 10% real pay cuts, for lecturers, senior lecturers
🔻union membership+density plummet over 5%
✊UCU staff doing 4 strike ballots
🏳️failure to protect branches+job security

So we need change.
