We’re on a beautiful island in the Maldives, which means the game tomorrow is a very convenient 5pm kick-off.

The biggest influence that this place has had on my life (so far) is to make me listen to The Fall again and reconsider if they (& he) were truly great.

Photo of Cole Palmer of Chelsea missing an open goal in the last minute of the game last night against Super Leeds United. Would have been the winner but instead kept the score at 2-2 and à battling point for the mighty whites

On a dot of an island in the Indian Ocean, 5 hours ahead, so didn’t see/follow match last night. Woken up, seen result. Just watched a pod of dolphins go by in front of our room, nice, but they didn’t come back from 2-0 down away at Chelsea. What a team, so proud of the lads and Daniel. #lufc

Yes, agree, & have made this point before - we made them look bad for large parts of the game. They did, fleetingly, play ok until we got back on it again which proves the point. For the 2nd half until Gruev’s injury they couldn’t get near us and we probably should have scored a 4th.

Another lovely thing last night was Nottingham Copse fans setting themselves up for mockery with the replays of our goals. Joyful in the extreme #lufc

Lovely looking scoreboard from Elland Road last night taken from a very nice dry seat in L31. Shows Leeds 3-0 up against Nottingham Copse.
Dan James as good as a new signing. Looked like a man reborn #lufc

Photo of game at Elland Road this evening. Leeds corner incoming and scoreboard showing us 3-0 up v the tricky trees from Derby (Nottingham Forest)
Relatively speaking that was quite an enjoyable and stress free evening. Gruev was immense, probably his best game for us. #lufc

…..maybe a pitch invasion leading to behind closed doors matches, both field ineligible players resulting in points deductions. What have we missed?

Yes, you’re right, I did & they were, & not everyone with a degree could demonstrate those skills. But we can’t remove hope - someone with a passion for something (forensics, archeology, art etc) should be encouraged to follow their dreams and….you never know. Get‘s my vote

I think it’s more than just a specific degree leading to a specific & related job. Over the years in fin svcs I recruited people with degrees in all sorts of unrelated fields, who were bright, interesting & through their degrees had acquired important skills such as critical thinking & analysis.

I replied elsewhere on this yesterday. Everybody should have the chance to go to university without being shackled by a grotesque lifetime debt which inevitably & disproportionally dissuades kids from lower income families from going.

University tuition fees were just another example of pernicious social engineering, much like RTB. It was becoming undesirable to elitist wealth that just anyone could go to university and also that oiks were littering up art history courses often (not always) the refuge for dim trust fund kids.
