Well, there you have it. UTA is now showing a new render of the Stadler CityLink LRV which clearly shows it's length has been shortened to match that of the current fleet (~80ft)

06.08.2025 20:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It seems the small community of Copperton is looking for a bike path connection between them and the 5600 W TRAX station using abandoned rail ROW that UTA owns. Would definitely be a cool addition π

27.07.2025 03:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When UTA goes to Stadler to update the purchase contract, Stadler is going to have one final opportunity to sway UTA on that.
So if that is going to happen, it's going to happen here real soon, or not happen at all.
I'm still doubtful they can make it happen
I haven't heard from any official sources that it is out, but from the rumor mill, I have heard that it's no longer on the table.
With that said, I think having a facility down there will be better for having extended FR service hours in the morning/night.
Looks like UTA was able to sell some bonds (I don't know the finance stuff) and is now planning to exercise their options to double their acquisition of Stadler LRVs from 20 to 40. This will allow them to replace the entirety of the SD-100/160 fleet

21.07.2025 17:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hey spoilers!
17.07.2025 16:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well it's expensive and would need to be funded locally is what I mean. Which maybe for an S-line type route you could get away with. But constructing the world's longest/steepest LRT viaduct to be a development generator is where I'm getting hung up
17.07.2025 15:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've been supportive of the idea that once the line crosses into Utah county that it would change into a new route, and you'd have a crew change or something
17.07.2025 14:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Idk, I don't really see why Trax needs to connect with FR there. Yeah it's great if they naturally cross paths, but at the POM the two corridors aren't close enough to just justify crossing over I-15. It's hugely expensive
17.07.2025 14:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also also the gaslighting about a blue line extension getting on the unified transportation plan first to be considered is a load of crap because the environmental work has already been completed for this extension
This is the same finger pointing that goes on when groups want to brush away the RGP

17.07.2025 02:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep. And I only say a gadget bahn because the developers want something better than bus. But you know what is better financially for the point than all of this?
Bus
This isn't a new idea either. Take Oakland airport's BART people mover, or the new people mover opening at LAX. Literally ANY airport people mover that requires a transfer from the local city rail transit operates this way just fine.
16.07.2025 22:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0To be fair to them, yes, transferring to a gadget bahn would still mean it's not a one-seat ride, but it would nullify their argument about decreased LRT frequency if 50% of trains went to the point and the other 50% went to Lehi
16.07.2025 22:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Point Transit staff have updated the FAQ section to address the blue line extension in three separate ways. The fundamental flaw in their reasoning is that the connection between Highline station and the point needs to be LRT. It does not. It could be some cheaper gadget bahn like a gondola
16.07.2025 22:32 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0An updated FrontRunner Forward document has been released. The document confirms the RFP choice of DMUs. But even more, they confirm the location of the new maintenance facility to be beck yard frontrunner2x.utah.gov/assets/docum...

14.07.2025 18:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My honest opinion is that I think major change needs to happen in this country and more accountability needs to exist (on both sides of our two party system). Ranked choice voting and other measures could help cool down our overheated political environment. Everyone is getting tired
08.07.2025 20:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This Epstein list issue should cause a watergate level event for the president, but I (unfortunately) don't see that happening. Trump would never back down and resign like Nixon did.
This should give democrats some wins in the midterms at least. And it's nice watching MAGA defect.
Important to note that Draper mayor Troy Walker also has said repeatedly that he would like to see the blue extension incorporated into the Point project
08.07.2025 18:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is unexpected. But as in my last post, I agree wholeheartedly with mayor Johnson on this. Simply extending the blue line is a much cheaper way to do this, and can happen sooner as it would be more eligible for federal funds. The current alignment would not be.
