Utah county, and specifically businesses like Adobe, were promised light rail over a decade ago. The mayor clearly realizes that the current alignment has the potential to jeopardize the entire project due to how its dependent on the point and state funding. Faster and cheaper is the blue extension

All this goes to show that UDOT is at least recognizing the blue line extension as a possibility. I unfortunately don't know the outcome of the motion as I can't get ahold of a recording, but a blue ext really is a much better outcome for Utah county if they can keep the pressure on and change minds

Since the full fleet calls for 40 DMUs, and this location would only be for 20, this still leaves the need for another facility elsewhere to be built or acquired

In a bit of personal news, I am moving out of Utah, to Atlanta. Not sure if I'll still post Utah transit stuff, or start posting Metro Atlanta transit topics? Still thinking on that

I'm quite hopeful that Utah will keep moving in the right direction, and it's a genuinely nice place to live

UDOT released the POM transit FONSI. At the end of the document there are two attchmnts describing temporary occupancy of land in Lehi. It would appear that the Lehi Mayor is using this as an excuse to twist UDOT's arm into further considering the Blue line extension instead of the current alignment

Not an endorsement of the current administration. Just an acknowledgement of there being enough establishment in the federal government to problem solve

The only thing that gives me hope is how they handled operation warp speed. When backs are against the wall, they can figure things out. But this brain drain that has happened since then makes me less hopeful
