From the latest Midian Books mailer: The Avalon Hill Witchcraft Ritual Kit (1974). "A boxed set of materials and guide books for performing witchcraft rituals....seems to be a hybrid of role-play and 'genuine' Wicca. Needless to say extremely scarce."

Fran de Anda’s work explores the human condition through themes of transformation, death, and alchemy. He draws inspiration from myths, archetypes and the traditions of classical art creating a dialogue between the mystical and the material.

This fierce folk creation by Amandine Barbet, stands guardian in the dampened marsh, born of the earth's oldest secrets, a beautiful vision of wild, witchy art.

‘…in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.’

‘There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.’

"The seventh form is Luna, wherein are contained the qualities of all the six forms. She is, so to say, the corporeal being of the other forms, all of which throw into her their desire by means of Sol. That which Sol (the sun) is spiritually becomes corporeal in Luna (the moon)."

Yes, but I’m not so sure we can pin down the meaning of the Green Man that easily. There’s all manner of weird and wonderful carvings in Medieval and Renaissance buildings. I think the masons were creative and naughty and liked to push the boundaries a bit and were not very bothered about theology

The Madre de Deus Convent in Lisbon founded in 1509 and now a museum. For a convent though, there’s a lot of pagan symbolism, when you look carefully at the decorative borders. Such as these satyrs and the god Pan. My photos.

Good morning! Today is the publication day of the 1927 occult novel POSSESSED by Rosalie and Edward Synton, discovered by me and reprinted by the British Library for their Tales of the Weird line.

There now follows a thread about the authors. If you buy a copy, use the hashtag #SYNTONSPOSSESSED

I’ve got 35K followers there, they’re not all zionists or transphobes or whatever. The so called ‘big names’ in the occult are not the draw for me, either here or there.

Well I know what you mean, lots of vile folks on X, but there’s still some good accounts and I have lots of nice followers, so at least there’s some interaction. Here things are dead. I really don’t want to invest much time in SM at all, so catering to two accounts seems a waste of time to me.

This place is really dull, no engagement and apart from the few excellent accounts that I followed here from X, there’s nought going on. It’s a chore posting here. And there’s censorship too; the ‘Victorian maiden aunts’ of BlueSky are more prudish than Queen Victoria herself.
