Republicans bite their tongues as Trump cancels projects in their districts It wasn’t just Democrats who had energy projects canceled in their districts.

Of the ~20 Republicans MSNBC contacted for reaction to losing the spending, only 3 responded by deadline. And only one directly raised concerns about the cuts, placing the blame more on Democrats than the Trump admin.

Last week, amid the shutdown, the Trump admin touted the cancelation of 300+ energy grants.

While most were set to benefit projects in Democratic congressional districts, an MSNBC analysis reveals there are also spending casualties tied to at least 20 GOP-held districts.

Rep. Joe Morelle, D-NY, told me Republicans should be “very, very thoughtful, because in the next several days, if they haven’t already, Americans are going to start getting their health insurance premium bills.”

“And when that happens, Republicans are going to have to answer.”

How Democrats think they can win the shutdown Democrats seem to recognize the shutdown may end without their getting exactly what they want. But they still see an advantage in holding out.

Two days into the government #shutdown, Democrats in Congress are showing little sign of relenting, betting that refocusing the national conversation on health care is a winning gambit for their party.

Amtrak is formally unveiling its new Acela fleet ahead of its official launch into revenue service tomorrow.

Their rollout has been delayed for years, originally projected to enter service in 2021.

The train-sets have a NY tie: they were assembled in Hornell in upstate.
