Yesterday morning we had a lovely walk around #Lewes to map some more trees for our ongoing #tree inventory. With the expert guidance of Peter Thurman we recorded some real beauties, including this Red Oak, Quercus rubra, next to East Sussex College.

The gentleman who lives there was just coming out to mow the lawn and he said that his mother grew it over 20 years ago and gave it to him when it was only a few inches tall!

The money will be used to fund our next #tree planting projects in #Lewes in November.

The berries are ripening on this Whitebeam #tree with very large round leaves at the edge of St.Pancras School playground, #Lewes. Thank you to Peter Thurman for the ID - Sorbus thibetica 'John Mitchell'. Apparently the berries have a good flavour!

Beautiful Magpie Inkcaps by Judas Art, posted on the Nature Table. So-called cos of its magpie-like black and white markings. The white spots are fragments of its original velum or veil. These are toxic. Look but don't touch. It's always best not to touch or disturb fungi - for your sake & its!
