13.03.2025 08:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The "Skinny House" in Boston is a very narrow home, measuring only 10.4 feet wide and has an interesting backstory.
Two brothers inherited a piece of land from their father. Whilst one brother was serving in the army the other built a large house taking up most of the land.
2/ When the soldier returned, to discover what had happened he built a narrow house on the small piece of land to spite his brother. This house blocked sunlight and ruined his brother's view, causing a rift between the two brothers

This Georgian style cottage was probably built in 19th century.
Whitewash was used to soften the appearance of these hard limestone buildings whilst the interesting decorative lip mouldings above the windows and door help to deflect rainwater
In the Northamptonshire village of Aynho many old cottages have Apricots growing up their walls.
These had been given to the local householders by the Lord of the Manor. The locals were then required to pay their tithes in Apricots rather than money. #HouseHistory
