The "Skinny House" in Boston is a very narrow home, measuring only 10.4 feet wide and has an interesting backstory.
Two brothers inherited a piece of land from their father. Whilst one brother was serving in the army the other built a large house taking up most of the land.

Piercebridge, Durham,
This Georgian style cottage was probably built in 19th century.
Whitewash was used to soften the appearance of these hard limestone buildings whilst the interesting decorative lip mouldings above the windows and door help to deflect rainwater

In the Northamptonshire village of Aynho many old cottages have Apricots growing up their walls.
These had been given to the local householders by the Lord of the Manor. The locals were then required to pay their tithes in Apricots rather than money. #HouseHistory

The Old House in New St, Salisbury is over 700 years old with flintstone and slate walls. It certainly is very interesting and could tell a story or two but it does beg the question - What was the Old House called when it was new?

Absolutely go to the records. We would always say that is a must. The notes in the margins, comments on the register , records that have not been digitised are vital. In fact many of the really important or in depth records have not been copied in anyway.
