A glossy crow in a small tree, with a vivid blue sky behind him.
This handsome chap flew down to check me out as I pulled up at Bunnings the other day. Gular pouches - not just for pelicans π€

19.08.2025 02:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Baby Tuesdayβs pathology came back and his tumour is benign! He isnβt out of the woods yet but this feels miraculous π€
31.05.2025 13:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Adorable!! Mine arenβt on there tho ππ€
30.05.2025 23:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just how spicy does wildlife rescue GET down there?! π€£π
25.04.2025 09:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks, Lana π€ I was the luckiest for thirteen years π€
22.04.2025 13:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs been almost a month without my best friend and it isnβt getting easier.
22.04.2025 03:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Splash (in my magpie aviary last summer) turned up yesterday with a full new set of adult feathers & is, in fact, a he! The saltiest of birds, he needed tube feeds and lots of meds to survive bacterial enteritis, & heβs never forgiven me - but accepted a native raspberry off the bush yesterday π₯°π€
22.04.2025 03:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sheβs stunning!! Way to go!
12.03.2025 14:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks for all the common sense - wish it were more common! (The crows say thank you for their food!)
11.02.2025 11:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sharing bc Nick is excellent on sustainable farming practices in the increasingly bleak face of late stage capitalism - highly recommend π
11.02.2025 11:44 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A busy night for wildlife! Encountered this beautiful great barred frog and this very calm little eastern small-eyed snake while I was doing bedtime rounds of the aviaries tonight. Three years ago, encountering a snake that venomous I wouldβve tried to call in an airstrike π
07.02.2025 13:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Piper sends kisses to everyone whoβs followed their journey and sent them mojo. All three are looking wonderful - weβve finished all our meds, and theyβre all so big and strong and absolutely feral π€£ I could not be happier for them π€
05.02.2025 01:22 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hard to believe theyβre not quite six weeks old now, but also I have spent pretty much every waking minute with them so it feels like forever. They have all bounced back so brilliantly!! Everyone is eating well, & Piper is devoting her life to being an absolute menace, which is glorious π€£π€
02.02.2025 04:28 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So beautiful π
01.02.2025 10:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0These guys are five weeks old, so a little way off release yet, but theyβre just as gorgeous as babies π€
31.01.2025 05:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So gorgeous πππ
31.01.2025 04:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0lol itβs different when it happens to them π€£
30.01.2025 01:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A pretty bird with a big, rounded beak, and black and gold plumage, which is quite spiky. There is a tail hanging out of her mouth, as I wasnβt quick enough to catch the rest of the mouse going down.
One of last yearβs darlings - Horton, a pheasant coucal, showing what she thinks of mice (βdelicious!β).
Pheasant coucals are the coolest cuckoos around, and one of only a very few which arenβt brood parasites - not only do they raise their own babies, theyβve been known to adopt orphans β€οΈ
Oh I love this! Has a really gorgeous Jim Warren feel to it, with the subject and that beautiful light!
24.01.2025 15:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0She was the smallest, but she ruled the big boys with an iron fist. Truthfully, though, they all loved each other fiercely, and built cuddle puddles so you couldnβt tell where one began and the others ended.
Sleep well, Pandora, little princess. It was a joy to have you for so long β€οΈπ
A small, slightly wonky little turquoise cinnamon green cheek conure, clinging to the top of a wooden toy in a fenced in outdoor patio. His head is cocked to one side, as though heβs curious.
Jonesy has been doing a brilliant job relearning to fly after his broken wing. Itβll take time, but he is incredibly determined π
24.01.2025 13:02 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Piper doing some preening nibbles in her sleep π€
19.01.2025 06:38 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My beautiful eclectus parrot is outside the window just quietly saying, βHewwo!β over and over because he knows I can hear him, and I say it back. Itβs the sweetest way to start a day π
17.01.2025 23:11 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs totally pervasive. I was just thinking about how Mum had hard contact lenses and I only have the option of daily disposables π€
17.01.2025 09:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 011g at hatch. The following day, Prue, Piper and Phoebe weighed 13, 15 and 16g. Thatβs my bank card, for comparison.
Theyβre still doing it pretty tough - and it was 38C today, which was brutal on these poor little nuclear reactors - but they are hanging in there π€
One entirely of their own making. I donβt have much sympathy for them.
16.01.2025 14:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Three nestling crows, snuggled up together. Their feathers are coming in, and despite my efforts the babies are a bit grubby from the combination of spilled food and feather dust. They are, however, on the mend π€
A long, long day - I spent 2.5 hours at the wildlife hospital today while my kiddos waited their turn in triage - luckily, one of my friends had an appt so I had great company.
Phoebe has been doing it so tough but I think we are finally onto the right meds - sheβs a smidge brighter tonight π€
