Saw a pair of male Atlantic Sand and Red-Jointed(Minuca minax) Fiddler crabs fighting at the marsh! Saw lots of M. minax aggression, which is high stakes for the other crabs; M. minax has developed the ability to eat their peacefulish cousins!

A fiddler crab stands in the center of the image; it faces the camera, holding its claws in front of its body. It has one huge claw and one tiny one, both being a pearly white color.
Finally getting around to posting some of the crab shots from last week! Here is Uca/Leptuca pugilator, the Atlantic Sand Fiddler Crab!! I love these lil dudes SO MUCH! At Cedar Point Tideland Trail, NC!

A orange dragonfly perched on a twig in the center of the image. It is facing away from the camera, its wings spread wide. The forward set of wings is fully transparent, though glinting colorfully in the light. The back set of wings is about one third opaque with patterned brown coloration, and the rest is transparent. The body of the dragonfly is orange.
Went down to coast (Swansboro/Outer Banks) and got a TON of crab photos, but I think I'm gonna start it off with a Carolina Saddlebags (Tramea carolina)! Shiny lil bud

A telelphoto shot of a Green Anole perched on the edge of an old grey wooden railing, which has cracked slightly. The anole is in profile, its mouth open very wide, and its throat crest extended (though mostly hidden behind the railing). The anole is greenish-brown, mid-transition between its two color states. Photo by me.

An extremely vocal Osprey this past month down at Cedar Point Tideland Trail in the #NC #outerbanks! There's usually a full family down there but this buddy was a ways away from their nest, maybe moving out?

If I might ask, where/how did you get these, they're wonderful! I've gone to Pea Island a few times hoping to see them, but they and the other migrating birds are always so far into the waters that my 300mm lens can't get much other than a collection of bird-shaped specks.

Coming out of hibernation to share this; Needlerush at the salt marsh. Taken on Hoop Pole Nature Trail on the #outerbanks a while back. When you look into it in person, the visual noise kills all sense of depth, it's really quite mesmerizing.
