that misinformation that went around saying that itch.io is “keeping the money” and not paying creators is going to cycle back to hurt queer creators too, because now people are saying they won’t buy from itch… i think maybe everyone needs to take a step back and stop with the hate and conspiracies-

Help itch.io continue to do good - go tell the relevant payment processors that we don't want payment processors imposing some puritanism on games. This has to be a line we hold as a medium - sex, sexuality, and sexual identity always get attacked first: everything else will come next.

This is a good article but I want to note that the page q_dork.itch.io/consume-me was never indexed since its 2018 publishing because it didn't meet minimum indexing requirements of having an uploaded file. It was not affected by the NSFW audit

I've been made aware that Mouthwashing hasn't been findable through itch's search since October 2024 as we did not meet their listing criteria. After seeing comments left just a few weeks ago I incorrectly made the assumption that the game has been delisted as part of the recent de-listings of NSFW games from the platform. I apologize to itch.io and to people who feel like they've been lied to. I made an incorrect assumption.

During a brief holiday, I implemented entity signals with propagation, delay and signal queues to keep the player input sequence when there is a delay.

Here is a test with a lever as a signal producer and some blinking platforms as signal targets/propagators.

imo there's a big difference between
a site that throws nsfw creators under the bus for the sake of its own growth + investors,
and a site that's forced to do so by payment processors, at great risk to themselves if they refuse...

A new petition spearheaded by prominent German journalists and game developers has gathered over a thousand signatures in the first day. Like other emerging protests, it aims at payment processors to take the pressure from store fronts selling adult games.

i met leaf and people working there irl. they had plenty of opportunity to be much greedier with itch. i know they are neither opportunistic or greedy.

fwiw i view itch as a victim in this and think they deserve some benefit of the doubt for everything they’ve done.
payment processors are holding a gun to everyone’s head and itch is no exception.
this is different. the death of itch, like so many are rallying around now, would be detrimental.

I have very few people who I genuinely considered heroic for the creative fields, but Kevin MacLeod was one of them. To learn that the "free varied music for whatever you want it for" guy stopped composing and started prompt engineering AI slop for almost a year is the most depressing twist.

This itch.io kerfuffle seems like a good time to remind you that it is not and never has been a war on pornography.

It's a war on women and marginalised people to attack and remove their capacity for earning income and financial independence.

I'm going to become angrier and angrier today, apparently...

Also, yes, Itch handled the communication very poorly but, apart from that, I can't really blame them. The alternative was to completely go out of business and that's not a realistic call.

2) The fact that a tiny group of religious fundamentalist assholes can dictate the whole world what to do, makes my rationalist mind go full joker.
