First time is just tough too. You've always seemed like a thoughtful person, I'm confident you will find a healthy way through it.

But it definitely got better. He's sleeping through the night and napping on his own, and we aren't as sleep deprived anymore, and I'm actually able to focus on a full work day again. But really brutal for a long stretch there. And still recovering financially from having to take so much time off.

But I'd prioritize it that way again, because it helped keep my wife from going just absolutely nuts. We have a toddler too, so she needed her attention too. It's like playing resource management with everyone's mental health.

Yes, same thing. Our newborn was sleeping horribly, so I wore him all day. Not able to focus for more than an hour at a time. My work definitely suffered. And it didn't really improve until we started aggressively getting him to nap on his own at like, 4 months.

The hardest part for me was managing anxiety and the compulsion to just go 150% toward getting work. Because my wife and kids needed my presence daily, emotionally and mentally. So difficult to balance, and very hard to trust that things are going to work out.

I was in the same position at the beginning of the year, it is very stressful. You're quite talented, folks would be lucky to work with you. I'll keep an eye out.

They've met their baseline goals, but the stretch goals are things like more characters, and let me tell you that is the vivid beating heart of this thing.

I think it looks good and plays well but the story of the people it tells is what makes it incredibly gripping. Well worth your investment.

But I believe that being a good person is above all the most profound art, the most profound legacy, thousands of times more influential than doing something “important”.

But not as simple as that. Art is more than entertainment. It is essential and profound. Hard to keep that in mind. Or working to find a way to marry the two impulses.

Shame on the economic model that incentivizes and enables me to entertain rather than minister to the most desperate and needy of people.

Multiplied by thoudands. I can see why people are drawn to social work. I believe on the power of making art—but I’m equally drawn to tending to the very immediate needs of people who have very little.

Was dropping my dad off and the guy nearby is crying “help!” Turns out his headphone jack situation is just really complicated. So grateful for just 15 minutes of my attention.

Sorry for the heavy posts. But turns out I’m pretty good at caring for folks who can’t move or talk much. Attentiveness, patience, listening, taking things real slow. It’s a good feeling, meeting the need of someone so sundered from normal experience.
