Domestic you have the option, I don’t see that option for immigration. There’s no response if you opt out of the scan. It’s just a visual id inspection instead. I would recommend making sure your picture closely resembles your current look (unlike me) if you’re declining.

Coming back into America doing the face/passport scan, it’s impossible to not consider my privilege while so many who are legally here yet too terrified to leave.

But our director, Charlotte, teaches us those lessons without abusing her audience, she knows when her point has been made and moves on. Which allows space to exit the movie hopeful. Which, to me, is why it mirrors our lives so well. Americans, for all our flaws, are a hopeful people.

This is a very good movie.
It’s a pretty honest view of what life is for a large swath of America. I think woman will particularly recognize the period of transition from girl to young woman. At times it’s hard to watch as a man, like other effective films of the topic, without feelings of guilt.
