Summary: A humanoid figure made of earth, moss, and foliage is depicted casting a ballot into a clear ballot box labeled "Nature's Voice, Election 2024" in a lush, green environment, accompanied by text suggesting a satirical commentary on a hypothetical political scenario.

Detailed Description:

Central Figure: The main subject is a human-like figure constructed from elements of nature. Its body resembles tree bark, with moss and grass growing across its surface. It has a solemn expression and wears a headdress made of leaves. Its hands are also formed from bark-like material, and it's in the act of inserting a white ballot into a clear box.
Ballot Box: The ballot box is transparent and has white text on it that reads "NATURE'S VOICE" in a large font, with "ELECTION 2024" underneath in a smaller font. There's a checkmark symbol next to the text. The box appears to contain several other ballots inside.
Setting: The surrounding environment is dominated by large, green leaves, creating a sense of a dense forest or jungle. The lighting is soft and natural, enhancing the overall organic atmosphere.
Atmosphere and Mood: The image has a surreal, almost dreamlike quality due to the presence of the nature-being. The mood is somewhat serious, given the act of voting, but the overall concept of a "Nature's Voice" election injects a layer of whimsy and political satire.
Text Overlay: Above the image, there's text that reads "REPUBLICAN FANTASY (CIRCA 2025): LAND TAKES HUMAN FORM AND CASTS BALLOT AT VOTING BOOTH". This provides context, suggesting the image is a commentary or critique of a potential future political scenario, possibly related to environmental issues and political ideologies.

Women at War | Online Library of Liberty Traditionally war was thought of as a man’s domain. The authors in this series know better.

This Liberty Matters series from The Online Library of Liberty looks at the unique challenges that women face during times of war. No, I was not a contributor, but Christy Horpedahl thought I might find it interesting. She was correct.

Diocletian, the Roman Empire, and Forever Failing Price Controls - Econlib The Roman Empire was in trouble. During the fifty-plus years known as the Crisis of the Third Century (235-284 AD), the throne of Rome changed some 26 times, with the Roman Army engaging in a steady d...

My latest on EconLib, in which I detail the failure of price controls in Rome under the reign of Diocletian, in order to demonstrate that they have never worked.

The Legacy of David Boaz | Online Library of Liberty David Boaz (August 29, 1953–June 7, 2024) was one of the most influential libertarians of the 20th century, and a driving force behind The Cato Institute for many decades.

In the final original essay for the Online Library of Liberty's "Liberty Matters" tribute to the legacy of David Boaz, @blanksslate.bsky.social Blanks talks about the proper framing of history in the expansion of liberty, a subject of great importance to David.

Liberty Fund's Online Library of Liberty continues it's "Liberty Matters" tribute to The Legacy of David Boaz. Yesterday, I discussed what David's work might reveal about the classical liberal vies of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Do I agree with everything David produced? Of course not. I sometimes disagree with things I myself wrote years ago; that is part of growth. Do I think he was right more often than he was wrong, that he produced more good work than questionable? Yes. In hope you enjoy my perspective essay.

I think we can all find something with which we disagree with any scholar, particularly when we are passionate about the subject on which we disagree, and when the scholar has a long, extensive body of work.

That's the easy part. The hard part is judging them in totality.

Roughly a year ago (Jun 7, 2024), the great libertarian philosopher and thinker David Boaz ascended from this mortal coil. Someone suggested to Liberty Fund that there should be an essay series honoring him. They agreed, planning the tribute for the anniversary of his passing.
