RIP to Jesse Jackson, who in this debate w/David Duke in 1977 delivered (until the host cut him off) a message of unity and against "national isolationism" that's important to hear today. He also ended the show w/one of the sickest burns ever directed at Duke: "You're not even a legitimate Klansman"

You need a crate of Boudreaux's and a 5 dozen bottle brushes.

Very commercial sounding breaks. I was always a jungle head, had to get to ATL to hear it. Alabama was basically a peripheral of the Florida breaks scene.

Same thing happened to me with the Crystal Method. I had a college radio show and we were going to interview them and everything.

jesse jackson was constantly played as a punchline on 90s late-night TV to the point that i didn't understand his history of activism and serious left-leaning political platform until i was much older. i have to think, to some degree, that was on purpose.

This is one of those things that if my student wrote it, I have to say something like "I'm not here to teach ethics, but there's an obvious point here that you seem to be deliberately missing."

I hate on Tool, but this really would be one of the more justifiable uses of the sphere.

It's a great comp. Fun to hear it gradually speed up and slowly back away from the rave stabs and piano riffs for deeper, darker territory.

I think the crucial aspect of 90s sample culture was the physical scarcity of vinyl samples. That's what made it so fresh. Now samples and breaks are named and catalogued. I can dl a sample pack with 100 different versions of the Amen. There's less "where'd that come from?"

Can confirm it's recognizable as brown gravy, though it does take a second for the full flavor to kick in.
