My first Emily Maguire book and it was a real treat. ‘Rapture’ tells an improbable story of a woman in the 9th century who lives as a man to escape the limited life available to women at the time. Plenty of engaging historical detail and inspired by myths of this period. Fascinating

This book was great, loved the idea of inverting the power balance between the sexes. Naomi Alderman’s book ‘The Power’ came out in 2017 and has been turned into a TV series. The first half had me absolutely hooked, wasn’t as taken with the wrap up but still a really good read
