Imagine being an Australian First Nations watching the speed of change to combat what could essentially be called racism. Those, like the liberal Party, care far more about a white segment of our society (0.4%) than our only Indigenous people with over 30 deaths in custody this yr! #AusPol

The next time someone tells you that America isn’t a sick & racist country, just remind them that this nation is willing to accept treason, rape, and child abuse from a white president but not healthcare from a Black one.

There have been so many signs that democracy has fallen in the US, why would this make any difference?

How can mining billionaire Twiggy Forrest have a clearer understanding of climate change and cheap energy production than the US president. Gobsmackingly illogical seems right. I don’t understand how the American people can bear to have such a corrupt and undemocratic person representing them.

Going forward, we should never again use the phrase "going forward" because 1) it's the worst kind of annoying corporate jargon and 2) it’s disrespectful to crabs

Book cover of Rapture by Emily Maguire. Illustrated with medieval floral design and an eye peaking through from behind.

My first Emily Maguire book and it was a real treat. β€˜Rapture’ tells an improbable story of a woman in the 9th century who lives as a man to escape the limited life available to women at the time. Plenty of engaging historical detail and inspired by myths of this period. Fascinating

Old English for β€˜the sorrow before dawn', when you lie awake in the darkness and worries crowd your mind.

This book was great, loved the idea of inverting the power balance between the sexes. Naomi Alderman’s book β€˜The Power’ came out in 2017 and has been turned into a TV series. The first half had me absolutely hooked, wasn’t as taken with the wrap up but still a really good read

I’m a big fan of Elizabeth Strout, love the way her books lay tendrils of character development and stories across multiple titles. Since reading her latest β€˜Tell me everything’ I have been dipping back into the Olive Kitteridge books. And before reading β€˜Lucy by the Sea’ rereading Lucy 😊

The thing I loved most about Twitter was that I could post some nonsense and then happily spend hours reading the witty replies by the brilliant people I was fortunate enough to have as mutuals. I'm not just saying this, but this place has already surpassed that. See the replies to this for proof...

Venting Doesn't Reduce Anger, But Something Else Does, Study Shows Venting when angry seems sensible.

I'm impressed that science has conclusively proven that the best method of reducing anger is stealing a boat and crashing it into a bigger boat.
I didn't read the article, I'm just assuming that's what it says.
