Something I’ve noticed is there seems to be a sort of pervasive assumption that the status quo has gravity. That there’s a natural, comfortable way things should be and that deviations from the normal state of the world will correct themselves in time.

But as a paleontologist, I know this is false.

The problem is that there are far too few representatives for our current population. They need to expand the house, by a LOT. Like, we should have around 1500 representatives in the House, maybe 2000.

All my life (in my 70s) people have said we don’t have a democracy because society did not seem democratic enough. & for many in Alabama where I lived it wasn’t. We now have about as much democracy as we have ever had. That said I think we can still improve upon where we are. A more perfect union.
