Interesting. I'm a bit sceptical about the persistence of the 'Irish literary tradition'...if it's alive, it must be transforming itself. Celan took french symbolism into the post-war 20th century, maybe we should be looking to take the `irish tradition' into the 21stβ€”where nothing is clear.

I struggle with this too, RΓ³isΓ­n. Is it a question of how far to open the door? I think established poets get away with a lot more obscurity! But I do enjoy poetry and writing that makes me work for a personal response. I'm happy to "dwell in possibility" with the little universes that poets make.
