Question (since I don't want to go down this rabbit hole myself)--does the crew list for the Argo work with everything else, or is it like some impossible crossover issue with both MCU and DC characters that weren't at the some time?

Under the Assyrians and Chaldeans, some of the Israelite/Judean exiles and any other moved peoples may have been ripe for gnostic thinking.

E.g. gnosticism in the USA achieved the pop culture mainstream in the late '90s when it seemed that Bush's new world order was in fact triumphant culturally and politically. 9/11 set all that back, but now it's returned with the new darker order.

I think gnosticism as we usually understand it may require the sort of state/culture where where it's difficult to imagine an outside within the material world (like the Roman Empire was for those classical gnostics). So maybe Assyria at its height, but more definitely Persia for those within?

To riff on Dr. McCoy and Bad Bunny, love may be more powerful than hate, but hate usually triumphs unless love is on its toes. Happy Valentine's Day!

Mao--relatively small southern town in China.

Stalin--out of Georgia(!), and would've had to deal with an accent. Hitler--out of small town Austria, would've had to deal with an accent. Napoleon--from Corsica, accent.

Some folks have pointed out that various evil dictators in modern history were the southern hicks of their countries.

Two other small notes about #StrangerThings:
1) I think this season had a lot of James Cameron influence, so the casting of Linda Hamilton was fitting.
2) It was nice to see the science teacher's nerd exuberance, and hear the word he used for his technical trick.

I remember the number of dot com Super Bowl ads before the that crash, so I think there's a real correlation of that sort of thing.

Also, I hadn't ever heard Camazotz pronounced before--among its various meanings, was it also poking at the "Camelot" of the time of the book?

Started watching the final season of #StrangerThings. One thing I love: Maya Hawke's character rambling about mandalas. Look up her grandfather and you'll get the joke.
