Listen to what I say and then think the opposite. It'll save time.
One of the only names in Tanach God picks Himself!
30.09.2025 08:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have a slightly similar situation. Though this person has now gone off the deep end of the most insane I-P posting known to man
27.12.2024 09:39 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You're right, let's move to a lighter topic Rav Pinchas....
Who do you think wrote the Zohar?
Which episode??

18.12.2024 07:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0After speaking to about half a dozen practicing trans orthodox Jews and seeing how wildly different their needs, experiences, and transness are, and how consistently they were waived away by rabbis giving general rulings instead of personal ones, it's clear to me how much it needs to be personalised
15.12.2024 22:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0From a review of the halachic literature, I'm personally on the fence on whether I agree with the minority or majority. If I were to ever become a Rav and rule on this, I think it would really be a case by case basis. I think some trans women should be 100% be wearing tefillin and some defo not
15.12.2024 22:31 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You certainly have solid ground and the opinions of true giants to agree with the minority. For some, it's a life-death matter to rely on.
A bris is private because the community are not interacting with your bris. A mohel is, immediately, but on the day to day, it's only you (and/or your partner)
... but even then, I doubt it, as I think the issue of Chavala (harming one's self needlessly) would cause it to be a safek, and override. It is definetly a question I'm going to bring up again when I speak to the next set of rabbis I'm going to btw
15.12.2024 22:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0... hold otherwise. This includes which brachos to say in the morning, tefillin for a trans woman (to be done at home), whether limmud torah is a tzivuy etc.
A bris would fall into the latter category.
Those that hold the former opinion (LBS, Rav Nebenzhal) may require some procedure....
... (some I have not spoken to disagree). This involves things like shomer negia, yichud, where to sit in shul etc. Private mitzvos that do not involve another individual is subject to debate. A minority hold that post-transition one should follow the gender that they have transitioned to, most....
15.12.2024 22:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0From a halachic perspective, there are two categories of halacha that are segregated by gender. One are communal mitzvos and the other are private mitzvos. All poskim I have spoken to agree that re: communal mitzvos, a person acts in accordance with the gender which they have transitioned to...
15.12.2024 22:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't think you do
15.12.2024 21:53 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0(I am not a posek or Rabbi or trained to give you an actual answer!)
15.12.2024 21:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In terms of practical halacha, most opinions would say you do not need to. There are some that very well might say (London Beit Din and Rav Nebenzhal, but this is me guessing based on some of what they said to me) that a drawing of blood is needed, but not a milah itself
15.12.2024 21:38 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I love Judaism and I love people. So I try make sure the two can work together
15.12.2024 21:28 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0But like, the Kuzari already notes that the vagina is an inverted penis, and most rabbonim have read the Kuzari and remember that
15.12.2024 21:27 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Results have ranged from, what is essentially, "they should kill themselves" to "half of Chazal were trans!"
15.12.2024 21:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Have done this a few times by now btw. Writing a paper on results, hopefully finished in ~ a month

04.12.2024 15:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I've spoken to some younger (my age) NK 'converts'/loosely associated Edah people who aren't necessarily NK a lot recently. I will say that amongst them, and they recognise that this is in contrast to their compatriots, there is a genuine concern for Palestinian liberation that I can appreciate

Immediately repulsed me.
Need a Rav to tell me all sugary drinks are treif soon.
The Ramchal has a line in Kinas Hashem Tzevaos that I believe in more broadly than him: "one who accepts Messiahship upon themselves, Messiahship accepts them upon herself." Yet, in 2000 years, no person has been brave enough to do so. I do believe in a man, but he'll have to be incredibly special.
