Our own Tasmanian Risk Management Fund to fund a range of ‘self insured claims’ from workers comp, medical liability & personal injury claims was earmarked for $127m topup in the now dead 25-26 budget due to higher claims (number & cost) 3/4

The Premier talks about the $2bn assets in MAIB but failed to mention the $1.5bn liabilities that are just as real and relevant - tell the whole story please! To say it won’t cost us anything is disingenuous- it will reduce profits of MAIB and thus returns to government to pay for services. 2/4

How much will this cost & what will the impact on the State budget be over next 10 years be - assuming this policy has been fully costed by treasury?? In recent decades State Governments around the country have sold/disposed of insurance provisions because of massive unfunded liabilities. 1/4
