Oh, this sucks. Tom Lehrer supposedly retired from comedy songwriting because he couldn't come up with anything more satirical than real life.

What must he have thought about today.

I was at the opening ceremony. Such an incredible moment. I moved to the USA shortly afterwards so it really did feel like the end of an era for me. Looking back, the UK seems like a different country now.

(Not that the US is a better example. Yikes.)

VPN endpoints with the lowest latency to the UK are in the Netherlands, specifically, Amsterdam.

Ireland, Germany, and Sweden are also pretty close and therefore good choices, but the Netherlands apparently has a good pipe.

Cropping the sides off and scaling it back down to PAL actually does a reasonable job of removing some of the AI nastiness.

Sort of amusing how you can hear him click a mouse or some kind of button at the end.

The AI upscaling used for the Live Aid rebroadcast became obvious almost immediately, with long shots of the crowd appearing as if viewed through some kind of diamond-shaped screen door effect.

I guess I understand why they thought they had to do it. But a simple scale would have worked just fine.

What is the "AI thing"?

Been available in the US for a while. It's really nice. (The non-diet version, at least.) Best when very very cold, I find!

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Probably the simplest explanation is that after the diffusion process a human went through and "corrected" just a few things. Perhaps a human who doesn't speak English.

I’m not convinced OCR would add extra letters like that. My theory is that someone is using a diffusion based upscaler, which could indeed result in those types of error.

Are your descriptions AI generated? This one seems to have lost its mind a little.
