Spending most of my life in Pennsylvania and Maryland, it still amazes me that in Illinois I just got my car emissions inspected, registration renewed, and new stickers received in one place in under five minutes. One minute of that time is because I turned down the wrong lane by the entrance.

There needs to be more heavy music available for young people so they can rock out. Perhaps the government could step in and fund this. Whether or not they take advantage of it, young people deserve the option to rock out. All ages could benefit but I think it's especially urgent for adolescents.

Chicago normally goes hard on the Halloween decorations, but has really stepped it up this year despite (or because of?) all the shit going on. Creative, gruesome, fun displays all around. The dog got in a standoff with a giant Nosferatu on our evening walk.

It's part of the Chicago International Film Festival, and tickets are thirty fucking bucks. I can wait.

Halloween decorations in a front yard include a werewolf in a flannel shirt and a hanging full moon. There are also several creepy dolls of children, tombstones, rotten guts, and body parts. The house is otherwise quite charming.

Kudos to the house that didn't just put up a werewolf in their yard, they also hung up the moon.

One of the things I really miss was how it made me focus on the individual instruments making up each song, appreciating bass and rhythm guitars instead of taking them for granted. I want that kind of focus for songs that have come out since then!
