Chainsaw Man was rad, man. I was concerned watching an anime movie in IMAX was going to just be a stretched out screen and ruin it, but no. Eye melting visuals and goddamn, that soundtrack. Loved it. I'm so glad that in the modern day, anime films come to actual theaters.

Damn, Kakeru is retiring from Street Fighter 6 competition. Bummer. He's my favorite player, easily. But even more sad is the circumstance behind it. He's so young, it's heartbreaking to see someone with his talent have to end his career this early.

realizing im on a tactical rpg binge. and also that i would be willing to buy unicorn overlord yet again if vanillaware was actually a cool company and ported their games to pc. but i guess they don't like money ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hear the pikmin motif in the music but it's the only thing that tips me off this is pikmin. Is there something else?

As a kid I remember running up and down the stairs to go from my room to the living room (where the computer) was to check all the formulas so I knew what I was doing with my character builds. As an adult I'm less willing. Would have been nice for the remaster to add that info somewhere.

Crazy how good FF Tactics still is all these years later. Most Tactical RPGs still aren't this good.
One big complaint though. The damage & ability success formulas aren't available to the player in-game. You don't know how your actions work, so you don't know how to make them consistent.

This makes for a really interesting localizer thought exercise, thinking about what I might've done if I had to name him back then. The joke in the Japanese version is *really* good, borderline unhinged, but I don't know that I would've bothered replicating it in English either for various reasons.

Feeling the enshittification of youtube today, as a japanese youtube channel i've been subbed to for years now has their titles auto translated into english. A google search is telling me there's no option to disable this.
Youtube knows multilingual people exist, right? I don't want a translation.

The *absurd* level of love and care put into the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster made me realize: Someone at square enix really, really, really loves Ivalice. FFT and FF12 have two of the best remasters of any game I've ever played. The mainline FFs don't even get this level of love!

I wont lie-- I'm a chicken & I'm very bad with horror games. Which makes Silent Hill f real rough. But Konami made the genius decision to make the only combat difficulty options Story and Hard, and my pride will never let me pick a difficulty mode called "Story". I got bullied into the right choice

Trails in the Sky 1st done. Incredible remake of an all timer JRPG. Seeing this with voice acting and modern graphics, and playing through it again as an adult makes me appreciate so much more how ambitious this story was back in 2004. And it's aged amazingly. Now the painful wait for 2nd begins...

Realizing just how few state-of-the-art video games I play, because Silent Hill f might be the best looking game i've ever played. It actually looks like pre-rendered CG. Excited to play more of this for the next week or so. hopefully i beat it before FF Tactics

The Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered announcement might officially be the point at which the words Remaster and Remake have lost any worthwhile distinction between each other. We let people use them as they please and now they're just interchangeable

I initially started on hard mode because I typically expect Nightmare mode to be unfair in Falcom games post-2010, but after seeing what you could actually do strategy wise I restarted on Nightmare. It's perfect, I really feel like all my decisions matter in these fights and it's not unfair.

I am LOVING Trails in the Sky 1st. The changes made to combat make this so much more engaging than the original.
I haven't really played any of the Kiseki series after Sen, so I'm unsure what here is brand new if anything, but as a remake this is fantastic. So happy right now.

They're not even remasters. The same exact game. Also they're $40 each if bought separately. Please don't buy these.

I already have thoughts on the new Fire Emblem. Just like with Three Houses, the Japanese title of this one (万紫千紅, Banshisenkou, a flurry of colors) seems to signal the intent of what sort of story they're telling this time.
