I was in a third grade classroom and students were conjecturing then when you multiply the product is big. Can't wait to hear what they say when they get to fourth grade and operate with fractions! #elemmathchat

I've seen lots of kids justify their conjectures using tools; in the case of 1+9 and 2+8 I can imagine having 10 of something and moving them one at a time from one hand to another. #elemmathchat

A4 When I think about the structure, I might conjecture that as one addend increases, the other decreases. #elemmathchat

Lots of conversations like that happening! We were good with 2+3=5 but 5=2+3 was a whole different beast! Quite a few students said they wanted to revise their thinking, so fun! #elemmathchat
