This is a very good article. The one challenge that isn’t mentioned is that in many of our congregations the bifurcated media ecosystem means that our parishioners are not operating with the same set of facts. This makes meaningful interaction more difficult.

Imagine being so afraid of black and brown people that you’re willing to wreck an entire country and the world economy just to keep your immense feelings of deep insecurity rooted in bigotry at bay.

I can understand go along to get along up to a certain point. But this is absurd. All the people lining up to fawn over the Mad King can only delay the inevitable collapse of his regime. He has no concept of the contempt of him that lies beneath the surface.

I just think it's wild that the armed professionals who wander our streets are allowed to act in fear, but the untrained normal citizens are supposed to know exactly what to do under terrifying circumstances or die

Notice how it’s somehow the government’s job to legislate a few Bible verses on human sexuality over our entire country, but it’s suddenly “not the government’s job” when it comes to the +2,500 Bible verses calling for a generous use of wealth that prioritizes the poor.

A Christianity that believes it needs a president, legislation and a government to ensure its survival is a Christianity that is centered on the worship of its own power rather than faithfully relying on the power of God.
