In Europe just as in Trump's America, the creeping criminalisation of migration and solidarity An obsession with security is increasingly putting both migrants and human-rights defenders on the wrong side of the law. The trend is the same in both the USA and Europe.

This is an excellent article on the depressing similarities between EU and U.S. (anti-)immigration policies and practices.

Rise of 13.6% in new sexual offences, says Courts Service The number of new sexual offences has increased by 13.6%, according to the Courts Service's annual report for 2024.

The Courts Service annual report shows a 13.6% rise in new sexual offences in 2024, alongside a 6.3% overall increase in criminal matters before the courts. Cases at the Central Criminal Court, remain significantly above pre-pandemic levels at 35%.

On this day 7 years ago, the Repeal of the 8th amendment marked a milestone in womenโ€™s access to reproductive rights in Ireland.

While progress has been made, we still have a long way to go to ensure true and equal access to abortion care for all women in Ireland.
