That's why I'm so fanatical that everyone who writes for @certifiedforgot.bsky.social gets paid, because even though the site loses us money, there ARE professional benefits that come with owning a recognized publication, and I shouldn't get those benefits based on someone else's work.

My belief system:
1) Even if a founder/owner is not getting paid, when you contribute unpaid writing to their publication, you're advancing their professional career with your labor.
2) If a site cannot afford to pay writers, then the only ethical model is a cooperative model: everyone's a co-owner.
