05.12.2025 01:18 β π 30 π 11 π¬ 0 π 0So what made Daniel perfect for the title character? I had this idea right from the beginning of wanting to do a Deathstalker that's older, a little more weary, more battle-hardened, and I happened to be watching Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite (1999) when this idea for this movie was formulating. I've been a fan of Daniel for years, loved him in Mortal Kombat: Conquest and the Bloodsport sequels, The Matrix Reloaded (2003), John Wick (2014), all that. I've known him as a cool action guy. I thought, "This guy's had a full, rich career, lots of interesting projects, and a very cool skill set." The fact that he's also a fight choreographer and stuntman made it seem like an interesting choice, like casting somebody who's so physical, he would enhance the spectacle of the movie, which is something I wanted from the beginning, and make something that's very action-heavy. He seemed like the perfect action man for the job, so he was my first and only choice for the character.
Steven Kostanski told Bleeding Cool that he got the idea to cast Daniel Bernhardt in DEATHSTALKER because he was watching BLOODSPORT: THE DARK KUMITE.

02.12.2025 23:18 β π 4 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Woke up to this cake that Suus made. Didn't celebrate today due to recovering from a slight cold of some kind.
Gonna celebrate properly this weekend when we head to Edinburgh and explore the city and do some whiskey tasting.
Was saving this interaction from ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976) for the day I turned 30.
Well today's the day.
It quite literally took me all day yesterday to just post my Letterboxd reviews. Still have some lists and what not to update, but anyways, here are my Four Favorites From Novemeber:
PREDATOR: BADLANDS
DEATHSTALKER (2025)
THE LONG GOODBYE
SHOWGIRLS/DARK PASSAGE
Oh I didn't pay. Was using a card that lets me see unlimited free art house films.
30.11.2025 18:21 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Can't remember the last time I was late to a movie, let alone 3 minutes behind the start time that I wasnt allowed to still grab my seat.
Guess I won't see THE MASTERMIND then.
Bummer. π«€
I truly can't believe that I've had the opportunity to talk to Stephen Hopkins. Feels surreal and even insane. But it has been one of the highlights of my year. I hope you all enjoy because listening to his stories is one for the books.
29.11.2025 20:22 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Not entirely sure what the name of this is, but Suus made it. So with a potato crust, some form of vegetable filling, and the pretty zucchini, this is as close to I'll get to a Thanksgiving plate this year.
It's pretty damn good.
I admitedly feel alot of FOMO during Turkey Day because it's not a holiday here. I haven't typically celebrated it due to work, and by the time I get home I'm too tired to make a show of it.
Anyways, missing my family, friends, and the plates.
Hope to try again next year.
Still, an aura of romanticism lingers on as freedom despite persecution wins the day, even if that love has to find refuge beyond the injustice of the American Dream.
26.11.2025 21:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0His repeated attempts at leaving her, only to come back around in some form or another could almost be played for comedy if it wasn't for him being a wrongly accused & wanted man.
Loved the back half, where redemption & hope are dashed as the underlying fatalism of noir kicks in.
God Lauren Bacall is so electric. Bogart is surprisingly understated, allowing his voice to carry a fascinating first half of a film that is almost experimental in execution with its first person POV. Still, you can feel the heat whenever he and Bacall lock eyes.
26.11.2025 21:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No Noirvember is completely with some Humphrey Bogart, so time to catch another pairing with him and Lauren Bacall with DARK PASSAGE (1947)
26.11.2025 18:31 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 0 π 1A privilege and an honor to talk to Katy. There wasn't nearly enough time, but I'm so glad we got the chance to do so and hope to do so again in the future. She's a real delight. Enjoy!
23.11.2025 21:52 β π 12 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0The ultimate hunter takes on an urban jungle. PREDATOR 2 more than holds its own, a fascinating time capsule and classic in its own right. What's your favorite line?
21.11.2025 23:02 β π 72 π 17 π¬ 6 π 6Hmmmm. Not sure how I vibe with this. But I do like the effort.
Maybe I'm the weirdo who likes the spaceship.
