I personally don't equate accents with intelligence or lack thereof, but I can see certain elitists wanting to strive for pronunciation purity.

Creative folks are generally extremely sensitive to aesthetics. I’m not beautiful, I have no sense of fashion, and my conversational skills leave a lot to be desired, so I don’t think any of them will like me either. (I write, but I don’t think I’m creative—I just do it for fun these days.)

I’m generally pretty happy if anyone sends me anything (it’s not a bill, woohoo!) and I tend to go with the flow if it’s not of any consequence, so to me, I find it very hard to understand this mindset.

This pertains specifically to postcards. Apparently some people have very specific types of postcards they want to receive or they’ll go into meltdown mode, just like kids with sensory issues to certain foods. Although to me, the kids’ behavior is more understandable.

It boggles my mind that some people claim they have anxiety about saying thank you for a gift that doesn’t fit their narrow view of what it should be and that they would rather say they hate it because it’s “honest”. I think they’re just hiding behind the ND label to be awful to other people.

This is why I’m a bit skeptical when the some of the same people showed up for that 2.0 version. I am not confident anyone learned the lesson. So my writing group is just going to do its own thing for now.

I already told all my coworkers that the whole thing imploded. I even used it as an example of bad leadership when I had discussed management styles with my now retired boss at the time.

When I was younger, I wouldn’t say anything. Partly because I didn’t want to cause a scene and partly out laziness for not wanting to talk. But nowadays, I will interject or just walk away. I no longer care if people view me as an awful person for not allowing them to be entitled to my time.

For example, if you’re the type of person who is both polite and a doormat, you will let those people ramble on and on about uninteresting and/or problematic topics which would make them think you’re agreeing with them. Sometimes you need to cut off the conversation even if it feels impolite.

This seems like good advice in general. I can usually tell if I’m getting along with another person or not. But I have also observed how some non-neurotypical people cannot tell the vibe is off unless you tell them point blank.

Every time I observe an impatient person on the road, one of my first thoughts is that they're about to poop their pants and they are in a super hurry to get to a toilet. Well, if they get into an accident, everyone's going to see an even bigger mess.

I know this crazy person wanted to go insanely fast because once the lanes combined at the intersection of 24 and 680, they finally had room to zoom ahead while everyone else was already driving 5-10 mph faster than the speed limit.

Some idiot on the road tried to bully me with flashing high beam lights to switch lanes but that just annoyed me and I kept my same speed in the same lane. I was driving the same speed as everyone in front of me. If I changed lanes, the asshole would have only kept bullying everyone else ahead.

Taking a walk yesterday I saw an extremely round albino squirrel eating someone's carved pumpkin.

This is the modern equivalent of people in the past not believing that people built the pyramids but aliens. Where is that alien guy gif when you need it?

When I was at the Louvre this summer, I certainly had no inkling that their security was this lax. I guess they were more concerned about controlling the flow of tourists than anything else. The week after I visited, the museum workers were on strike because of too many tourists.

It is unsettling to look at my rearview mirror and see that the driver behind me has a phone in one hand, a vape on the other, and is gesticulating and yelling at the same time. At the very least, holding that phone while driving is illegal and he's lucky a cop was not nearby.

I wasn't allowed to use a calculator until maybe around my junior year. At that point, I was good enough to go to math competitions but in elementary school, I was terrible at math. I failed a lot of the timed tests and had to take them over and over again. Sometimes it's just memorization.

Geez. Why do people think that *I* can unsubscribe them to a Google calendar? I don't have access to their settings. I'm just a normal person who doesn't work at Google.

Also, not every culture does hugging. Does this make only certain cultures valid?
