I figure it's been spritzing me with Judaism my whole childhood like a religious air freshener.

But I have 2 childhood pictures of myself because of the hoarding and damage. And I really wanted to have this.

I looked at it as a child and didn't know what it was. Later I realized.

It was a mezuzah.

I said, there's something on the doorway of my bedroom. Can you get it for me? This was last year.

I knew by now what it was. And in the time since I'd moved out, I'd converted to Judaism, gotten married, had a home of my own.

She sold it as is to a contractor who rebuilt it (it's so grey inside y'all like what the Magnolia bullshit is this) but before they were clearing everything out, they asked if there was anything they could try to get for us.

With like mountain climbing gear I suppose there was no floor.

For a whole number of reasons, by the time my sister was able to address the house issue (with garbage and animals and our childhood trauma all inside) the roof had caved in, and the second floor had a massive hole in it.

The 2nd floor being where the bedrooms were.

I grew up, and moved out. In that time my mother had become a hoarder, and the house became unlivable.

When she eventually moved into assisted living, by that time the house had been filled with garbage and then left alone. It was not great.

When I was growing up, there was something on the bedroom door that I could see from my bed.

I couldn't reach it and it was hard to see from underneath if I was up close but if I pointed it out to my parents, they didn't see anything on the door at all.

I use my 3D printer exclusively for head sculpts. But for bits like this, ALL of the dopamine is in solving the problem of "how do I make this with items that aren't supposed to be a mini sword?"

As a woman in media who has for decades done a lot of difficult investigative reporting, sometimes involving famous people, who has been ethical about it the entire fucking time, I want a Pulitzer for not popping off about this in public (prayers up for my long suffering Signal pals & group chats)

Why is sex-as-punishment or sex-as-suffering elevated as art, but as soon as you see characters having sex for the pure pleasure of it, it's immediately dismissed? Why do we have so many graphic depictions of sexual assault and sexual trauma and so very few of sexual fulfillment? Rly makes u think
