A document that reads In-Person Strike Cards
Due to the current state of U.S. politics, and the uncertainty expressed by coalition members, we have decided to integrate a process to record in-person, on paper strike card commitments. This can be done at community events, protests or rallies, amongst friends and family members, in neighborhoods, and more. This is the next step to fully decentralizing the collection of strike cards and provides an opportunity for people worried about online organizing to get involved.
It's still critical to collect at least one form of communication from individuals who commit on paper. With this, the role of sharing important information about the General Strike is filled by the individual or group collecting strike card commitments. If those signing their strike card wish to get involved with the General Strike U.S., the individual or group collecting information should make sure that they can direct people how to do so. This can include sharing:
β€’ Website
β€’ Social media accounts
β€’ Discord server
β€’ Getting them in contact with the closest regional chapter.
With in-person strike cards, all General Strike U.S. needs to know is how many commitments were collected. With the shift in responsibility of contacting individuals to the person or groups collecting strike cards, we do not need any contact information or names to be centralized. The number of strike cards collected can be reported back through:
β€’ Email: info@generalstrikeus.com
β€’ Signal: Your chapter facilitator(s), national G.S.U.S. teams
To keep the information collected safe, you can work with co-organizers to spread out the information, with each person only holding on to a couple sheets of paper. You can get rid of names and only keep necessary information to contact people. This is the nature of decentralization - it only works if we all step up to organize together, if we are innovative and clever, and if we build trust among communities.
To keep in touch with strike card…

Folks, please read this document about in-person strike card commitments if you’re concerned about the digital version!

It’s not us (GSUS) who is leading this, it’s ALL of us. The only way this works is if people jump in and get to work.

Be There. Be Counted. Our dissent deserves to be recognized. The public record is often written by those in power, but we can write our own. Let’s record our history. Let’s count our protests. Let’s document each action ...

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Skipped the paperwork. Ignored the court order. Broke the law. Ignored the constitution.

This ain’t immigration policy. This is straight-up defiance of the rule of law.
