The exact budgeting is (hopefully) public somewhere but there is also a "Liveable and Safe Urban Communities" program (as part of Towards Zero) which does explicitly mention raised crossings and 30kmh zones although the exact funding details aren't clear from first glance

On TfNSW's website they state the funds go toward a variety of road safety programs including "infrastructure safety treatments" which includes better road surfaces, markings and engineering β€” so it very well could be although it's not explicitly mentioned

Probably not, since speed camera revenues (at least in NSW) go toward a community road safety fund. Either way they're still a good tool especially with our double demerit system around holidays and events

Love the art style, and it's really cool actually being able to visualise (one possibility!) of the future of our city!

To be fair in Sydney there are still a lot of places where contractors will go dig up something then dump a blob of asphalt as a "fix"

YouTube video by TheTrainGuy4 Sydney to Bathurst in under 3 hours? | Improving the Western Line

Yeah, TTG4 made a great video about that www.youtube.com/watch?v=03i8... and a lot of the line is cut into rock particularly the ascent

Initially won't workers be required for the nearby airport? Seems logical to live there if you're, say a baggage handler at WSI. Then they'll need amenities and shops etc that'll get the ball rolling

Yeah, and with the NRF being such an "off the shelf" solution (as seems to be in vogue with politicians) they lack key comforts for Australia such as tinted windows. Also, I wonder how they'll perform in our significantly more challenging climate.

A new orange, silver and black double decker "Mariyung" intercity train traveling along tracks on a causeway next to Mullet Creek. The tracks are curved, with only the first and a bit of the second carriage visible as the train is approaching the camera on the further of two tracks. Overhead wires are visible and a rusted gantry can be seen behind the train. The background is forested and there are hills. The sky is a dull clear colour.

These are a great idea, especially the integration with the transit cards. The new Sydney Metro has a couple of these too, they're a lot easier to use than the old bike lockers (which you have to hire)

A steel double-decker 8-car suburban "Tangara" train with a yellow and black front, and yellow doors passes under an overhead wire gantry on the centre right track out of four tracks. The red target plate on the front of the train indicates T97 while the destination board is empty, presumably broken. Some short buildings can be seen to the left and right of the rail corridor with some light graffiti. The sky is a light blue colour with some clouds and the lighting is that of a sunset from the left.

The rear of an orange, silver and black double-decker intercity Mariyung train on the left track, departing the small station of Wondabyne, with some other silver and black carriages visible as it curves further down the tracks. Two tracks with concrete sleepers and gravel ballast are visible, with the right track vacant. Flanking the tracks are two short concrete platforms each with a small shelter and a bench. Overhead catenary wires are visible with a gantry supporting them toward the far end of the platforms. The sky is bright and clear and there are forested hills in the background.

Yesterday was the last day for the V sets on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line

Having operated for 55 years (since 1970!), their replacements, the D sets, feature improved accessibility, power points and tray tables.
