If you push yourself to your limits and burn out for a company, you are trading years of your future productivity for minor gains in the present.

i feel like I think differently about game design than most people, because when I read about how they design games, a lot of it's like, theory stuff (that I don't think is justified--like "the protag must be silent so the player can relate to them" is obvious horseshit), or cargo culting.

The only time a silent protag "worked" for me was half-life and portal. Games with silent protags where you still pick dialogue options confuse the fuck outta me. Even worse if there *is* a voice actor (persona 5)
