Dirt track, leading to car park, closed off by two large concrete blocks with the word 'closed' spray painted on them. There is a one metre gap between the blocks, and a car parked in front of one of them.
Second view of of the previous image, showing a second car parked nearby totally blocking the pavement.
Car park at the east end of The Pencaitland Railway Path has been closed. This is on NCN196, and while the gap in the blocks looks wide enough maintain access, a third parked car was pulling away as I arrived which I suspect would have been blocking it for all but pedestrians and two wheeled bikes.

The top half of a worn stone gravestone in a grassy graveyard. There is a carved hand holding a lozenge of glass along with tools - including a blow pipe, a set square and a pinching tool.
Noticed the #31DaysOfGraves tag was #Glass today and couldnβt not share this gravestone in Tranent churchyard, East Lothian.
A gravestone for Thomas Waugh, glazier, dated to 1705 which shows the tools of his trade and a lozenge of glass. He was a glass worker, likely at nearby Morisonβs Haven.

"It was a good day, visiting, walking, talking, listening and learning. It shows what we have and what we need to celebrate and prize."
In his latest blog, our chair Prof Adam Cumming reflects on his recent walk between two East Lothian churches as part of the Scottish Pilgrim Routes Forum AGM. π

Photograph of a solitary standing stone in a stubble field with a rounded hill in the distance.
#StandingStoneSunday: the 3-metre tall standing stone on Pencraig Brae, East Lothian, looking south to the rounded Traprain Law with its hillfort, and the Lammermuir Hills beyond. The old Great North Road crosses this view, on the far side of the wall in the middle of this picture.

A view across a choppy estuary to the hills of Edinburgh.
A line of concrete blocks along the shore.
A path through trees around an ornamental lake.
An oak tree, its green leaves starting to turn orange, overhanging water.
Some photos from today's walk in East Lothian: Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh across a choppy Firth of Forth; eroding 2nd World War shoreline concrete anti-tank defences; a path around an ornamental lake; oak leaves starting to turn for autumn.

Day 5 of #31DaysOfGraves - Bird
Stone doves of peace are a regular sight in many a graveyard, here's one nesting atop the Wilson family's late Victorian memorial just inside the gate of Tranent Kirkyard in East Lothian.
Sadly, its beak is need of a wee bit of first aid...

Sally Anderson a local photographer making a compilation of East Lothian artists, came on Tuesday and took a load of shots. Idea is to photograph artists in the locations that inspire them. This was my favourite though the colours got a bit washed out in the sun.

The Battle of Prestonpans. The image shows the top of the mound that marks the site of the battle, with a square enclosure in black and a flagpole flying a red flag on the left side of the enclosure. In the background, views can be glimpsed of the Edinburgh skyline. The horizon is very low and much of the frame is filled with blue sky.
280 years ago today. The Battle of Prestonpans, a decisive Jacobite victory over Hanoverian government troops, took place on 21 September 1745 just to the north of what is now the A1 between Tranent and Prestonpans in East Lothian. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...
