"Artificial Intelligence and New Human-Technology Relations as a Challenge for the Philosophy of Science" 23.05.2025, 10-16 Uhr, University of Münster (Senatssaal am Schlossplatz 1) We aim to bring together researchers who, from their disciplinary perspectives and in their engagement with current AI applications and models, consider or wish to debate questions of philosophy of science and higher education at the planned event. The following questions may serve as a starting point for discussion but are not exhaustive: How does the use of (generative) AI transform scientific knowledge production and teaching, and what philosophical reflections on foundational concepts, methods, and frameworks are necessitated by these transformations? What implicit or explicit conceptions of humans and machines underpin the research, development, and application of AI? How can synthetic outputs such as text, video, image, and audio be situated within the broader context of changes in public and academic reasoning from a philosophy of science perspective? What interdisciplinary approaches (e.g., involving linguistics, semiotics, philosophy of language, epistemology, philosophy of science, technology assessment, philosophy of technology, futures studies, media studies, education sciences, and others) are most promising for addressing these questions? What ethical implications are inherent in these developments and the corresponding philosophical reflections?

I'll be talking about latent space and philosophy this week in Lissabon:
Two Simondonian critiques of Gestalt Theory and a contemporary proposal of how to investigate multidimensional grounds instead of synthetic figures

You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is - we're here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore." Let's all get up and move around a bit right now... or at least dance.
