Cubs To Promote Owen Caissie For MLB Debut The Cubs are planning to promote top prospect Owen Caissie, as reported by Kiley McDaniel and Jesse Rogers of ESPN. The young outfielder is already on the 40-man, and he will presumably take Miguel Amaya’s spot on the active roster. Amaya sprained his ankle tonight and will require an IL stint. As for Caissie, he…

Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer will face off tomorrow night for just the second time in regular season history

The other matchup was September 7, 2008, when fans expected to see Greg Maddux vs. Randy Johnson

Down in High-A Vancouver, No. 1 prospect Arjun Nimmala just homered for the third game in a row.

This has been a really impressive start for him, carrying over that second half from Single-A Dunedin last year. #BlueJays

'Big and sexy': An inside look at swing changes of Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez Blue Jays hitting coach David Popkins can pinpoint the exact moment when the light bulb went off for Andres Gimenez, as changes to his swing have helped him take off in a big way to start the season. ...

Really interesting piece on Andrรฉs Gimรฉnez's offensive development from @bydavidsingh.bsky.social.

If even a fraction of the gains we're seeing now are real, he will have been an outstanding acquisition for the Blue Jays.

I was in disbelief that Ryan Yarbrough was left off the roster. One series in and it's already cost them a game. I was told much of the management was in favour of having Yarbrough come north, but that the 2 guys at the top opposed it.

It's easy to get caught up in the unlikeliness of a Tyler Heineman HR, but the pitcher he did it off of โ€” Cionel Perez โ€” hadn't allowed one in his previous 104 games.

Difficult to imagine a more improbable blast.

no pitcher in mlb history had ever given up 5 home runs and walked 5 batters in a game without facing at least 35 batters

nestor cortes today did it while facing only 17 batters

Max Scherzer looked great in his first spring appearance with the #BlueJays

Here's all four of his strikeouts from those two innings:

I listened to this podcast on the flight home from my fastpitch tournament and it did not disappoint. My mom was born the same year as Geddy and Alex and went to school in Willowdale with them. I could listen to him talk about music and baseball for a long, long time.

I will have to give this episode a listen. I had a very similar outcome after a Kevin Pillar foul ball in 2015. Last second interference from a neighbouring fan altered the trajectory of the ball from my hands to my orbital bone.

If you do not like Ross Atkins you will not like James Click either. I agree that Atkins no longer deserves any rope as general manager but James Click is not the guy to replace him.

Close play all around. Catcher does a great job cutting off Bo's access to the plate and applies a very quick tag after Bregman makes a great throw backing up the first cutoff man Pena. 2 outs and Schneider up and Alvarez in LF I'm okay with the send.

Inspired me to do some research as well. Even though Juan Guzman led the league two years in a row in wild pitches including a modern day AL record of 26, he only hit 35 batters in his career.

And also in 1996 Juan led the league in five categories but failed to get a single Cy Young vote.
