I thought I would breeze through this book, but within a few pages knew I needed to slow down and spend time with each chapter, contribution, and invitation to pay attention to community- both present and possible.
Thank you, Glen Bell, @dustindbenac.bsky.social, and @erinweber-johnson.bsky.social

I hear you, but I footnote my sermons and mention sources frequently – that should not be the exception.

Thinking today of Phil Adamo, who first came to United States as a prisoner of war during World War II. He was so moved by the good and respectful treatment he received from the Americans that he become a devoted citizen of this nation. More of this, please.

Longest speaking filibuster ever was 24 hours, 18 minutes by Strom Thurmond in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

In a few hours, that record will be shattered by Sen. Cory Booker, a Black man, laying out the case for saving democracy from an aspiring despot.

48 Scientific Societies Representing Almost 100,000 Scientists Ask Congress to Protect the Future of Science 48 scientific societies representing almost 100,000 scientists signed on to a letter asking Congress to protect the future of science

Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.

It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! πŸ§ͺ🌎

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Some lines from poet Sonia Sanchez, "Poem for July 4, 1994," that speak to this Presidents Day:

May I be a guard
for those who need protection,
a guide for those on the path,
a boat, a raft, a bridge
for those who wish to cross the flood.
May I be a lamp in the darkness,
a resting place for the weary ….
until all beings are freed from sorrow
and all are awakened.

I've just learned that there's a Silent Book Club at a brewery in my town and I'm kinda into it.

You get a drink, read silently for an hour, then the next hour you can chat with people if you want.

Sounds kinda awesome TBH.

It's not all fur and games. Here's how the Puppy Bowl works The Puppy Bowl may look like lawless fun. But there are rules to the annual competition, now in its 21st year. Here's what to know as Team Ruff and Team Fluff hit the turf on Sunday.

This is my plan for the afternoon:

Yay!! Love the themed collars, too. And, because I’m not sure where else to put this, I miss Richard Thompson. I feel like his art commentary would be helpful right now.
