Even if I was making my own engine I'd strongly consider just using Godot as a base and modifying it to my specific needs.
Got a preferred distro these days?

#GodotEngine 4.6 released less than two weeks ago, and we've been hard at work preparing a maintenance release. Our first 4.6.1 Release Candidate is ready for general testing:

This release puts you and your workflow first with a new theme, flexible docks, and dozens of UX improvements. And Jolt Physics by default, revamped IK, better reflections, and more.
Less wrestling with UI. More making games.

Have you ever played a game and thought "I wish I could purchase some Walmart products from within this game without exiting it"? Unity got you covered! #gamedev

Wow they've figured out a new way to bake the consumption right into the distraction. Sure am glad we spend resources and the time of talented, intelligent people on money siphoning machines instead of solving actual problems.
Our current system definitely has the right priorities.

That's fair. When I tried arch I spent way more time than I wanted to looking up how to fix things that broke on update.
I've mostly settled on Pop! these days because you get the reliability of being Debian-based, but their packages are more up-to-date than Ubuntu.
there is no possible alternative way to organize society and resource allocation than this???? I literally believe God wants everyone but rich people to suffer in debt slavery for the rest of time???? Why would we ever try to improve on that?????????
19.01.2026 19:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Uhh but then we might achieve a sustainable equilibrium and line won't go up forever???? You need to be poor and uneducated so you have more kids so and work yourself into an early grave so a handful of sociopathic rich kids can keep making more money 5eva (dats 1 more den 4eva)???? Obviously
19.01.2026 19:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I think you're almost always better off with well known, well supported distros backed by organizations. Just install Ubuntu (or maybe Mint if you hate Snaps) and look up a guide on how to tweak it for gaming imo.
Pop! is a solid choice also, just download the Nvidia version.
"Culture fit" is a code phrase for "normal people only."
It's a nice-sounding excuse to cover for excluding competent, qualified people from marginalized groups without being honest about it.
Hey just a reminder - you don't have to play the game optimally.
You don't need the most efficient talents, leveling routes, farming spots, guide videos, or anything else.
You can just play the game however seems fun and discover as you go.
When it stops being fun, you can just stop playing.
The Battle of Hoth, a defensive mission to stall the Imperial assault until all the rebel forces leave Echo Base. We see our hero flying a snowspeeder dangerously close to the kinda camel shaped AT-AT metal monsters while rogue leader is constantly yelling in his ear to fire the damn tow cable, which he did and he's wrapping it around the AT-AT's legs and he's doing great so shut it rogue leader. Wow the Empire really did hire the worst techbros to design their machines, they all have glaring flaws and weak spots. I just wanna mention this is one of my favorite games ever (I played the PC version back in the day), it's janky and often unfairly difficult but it's got a bit of somethin' somethin' there.
The dashing Dash Rendar, rendered in ultra detailed low-poly, faithfully showing his rugged looks, sleek mullet and puffy brown life jacket. He's standing in front of a frosty barren wall of Echo Base, visually distinctive by its vast, endless halls with stretched textures and repeating patterns, giving the surroundings a very lonely, liminal space feel.
Dash's ship, the Outrider flying through an asteroid field and getting very close to an Imperial Star Destroyer. The Outrider kinda looks like a baby version of the Millennium Falcon with a similar saucer and asymmetrical design philosophy, but with a neat trick of being able to rotate the central part and its extended left arm, or was that just the toys I can't remember.
A closeup of an IG-88 assassin droid, a very lanky, robot with a penis-shaped head wielding some kinda laser rifle, being very determined to fry Mr. Rendar's ass.

"...tests from earlier this year found that AI agents failed to complete tasks up to 70% of the time, making them almost entirely redundant as a workforce replacement tool."
Oh no hahaha I mean wow that's really too bad hahahahaha oh no it turns out AI sucks hahahahaha
I feel like the main problem with stock value as the primary indicator of economic success and viability is that it doesn't actually measure anything important. We should base our system on actual utility and value to humans, not whether or not sociopathic rich kids can wank to it.

"Slop mopper" is the hot new job title for contract work in 2025.
I sure am glad we're "advancing" by adding a whole new layer of needlessly wasted time and resources on top of everything that people used to just do.
I move to call this kind of work "slop mopping"
