I didn’t write this book because I had all the answers.

I wrote it because I know how hard it is when you feel like you’re supposed to have them.

Cold Calculus

A brazen sleight of hand,
they proffer charts with care,
yet creased to cloak the sand.

The scapegoating guide points
to paths marked "swift," though strewn
with dormant, buried joints.

Today marks one year since I've started writing my book. As much as I wanted to write something beautiful to celebrate today, my stressed mind stays uncooperative. So all I'll say is that I've learned and grown much in the past year because of this book, and I love it with all my heart.

The process is … the process. I empathise about the struggles of birthing long-form fiction, for sure. Keep going and know that it will be worth the effort when you’re ready to submit it or self-pub. 🎖️

Welcome back. I don’t usually attempt poetry, mostly weird fic and horror, but I did a 75 word one because I adore some of Coleridge’s… this is Sea Oats.

Happy to have influenced you to do so! It’s a wonderful if melancholy anime on Netflix with true alien biology. The smaller organisms and their way of life are wonderful. That’s what your art reminds me of.

Added it to my calendar on repeat with an alert to remind me (severe ADHD means I have to — the joy of neurodivergence!)

Very true. I still like to watch Murnau’s unlicensed take. Was a little disappointed in the recent remake though. Had lovely moments but .. something felt missing.
